→ Character Information ←
→ Character Name: Namine
→ Canon: Kingdom Hearts
→ Canon Point: End of Kingdom Hearts 2
→ Personality: Namine, unlike most Nobodies, was born without any memories or knowledge of emotion. This is most likely due to her unusual birth of coming to existence and because of that, she cannot act any of her emotions. When she was captured in Castle Oblivion, all she did was follow orders to those close to her, which led to giving her a quiet and timid personality. Upon doing this though, led her to the discovery that she has the ability to feel, as she often found herself taking responsibility for what her captors did, as well as feeling guilty. And acting on this guilt made her rebel against her captors, attempting to redeem herself of what she has done. After Sora was put into the capsule so Namine could reconnect all of his memories again, she joined up with Diz during the process. During that, Diz kept Namine under close watch with the help of Riku, to make sure that Sora’s memories were being restored. It was during the time when Roxas was nearing the end of his time in the Virtual Twilight Town, did Namine once again, rebel against her caretaker. She sought to tell Roxas about the truth, feeling sorry for him and responsible for him being in this state, Namine wanted him to know that he wasn’t alone.
The rebelling and switching sides from the Organization to assisting DiZ, led to Namine becoming more determined and being her own person. When she met Roxas, she rebelled against DiZ and didn’t seem too afraid of the consequences when she was faced with them. There is quite a few times that Namine has gone against authority and acted on her own accord, which is what she and Kairi have in common; being determined. She also shares Kairi’s kind nature towards others, which is shown with Sora in Castle Oblivion where she goes to great lengths to protect him. She also shows this kindness to Roxas in Twilight Town when she’s explaining everything to him about Organization XIII and Nobodies.
Even though they share some similarities, Namine is quieter than Kairi and keeps to herself most of the time. Unless she finds an interest in something, then she goes for it. Kairi is also where Namine gets her slow emerging dislike of authority. But unlike Kairi, Namine isn’t much of a teasing and joking kind (though she will laugh at someone who is being teased), she prefers to encourage and give information. Another thing that’s different is that Namine doesn’t like to fight, much unlike Kairi, who will take her keyblade and fend for her friends. Namine would be more than happy to help her friends any way she could, even though she doesn’t have the ability to fight with a weapon. One of the things she can fight with though is her words. Even though most of the time what she says doesn’t affect the one she’s trying to fight against, it does help the one who she’s trying to protect.
As it has been said many times, she’s determined, but the one thing that she’s determined to show is that she’s her own person. Namine is often found smiling, and is always sounding genuinely happy. Most of this is because she wants to prove everyone else wrong about how she doesn’t feel anything. That she’s much more than a “witch” who can manipulate memories. To prove these things, she’s gone to pretty big lengths. From going against orders of the Organization members who were using her, to going against Diz, both in which are people you do not want to mess with. All in all, it is thanks to Sora that she was able to find the determination and ambition to be her own person. Even though she re-wrote his memories, he forgave her and told her that they were still friends, fake memories or not.
She may not have weapons like all of the people around her, but Namine is unique in her own way. For someone who was told from the beginning of her existence that she was only useful for one thing, she’s come a long way. Still quiet and somewhat timid, she manages to give a calming presence to those around her. She stands her ground when she knows there’s danger, and she’s not afraid to go at any length to show that there’s much more to being a Nobody than just not having a heart.
→ History: Here!
→ Abilities: Namine has the ability to manipulate memories to her choosing if the said person is connected with Sora. When she was in Castle Oblivion, she was able to replace Kairi’s image with her own in Sora’s memories, as well as create a whole new stream of them involving her. The way she goes about it is unique though, when she recreates a memory, she draws it out on her sketch pad and that’s how it’s created. Along with the ability to implant and create memories, she also has the ability to create dark portals that take you through the Corridors of Darkness and can teleport you to a specific location.
→ Strengths: Namine is a very persistent girl, when she has something she wants to do, she’ll see it through until she can’t do anything anymore. She is also willing to do anything for a friend, even though she can’t fight, she will do her best. Since she has possesses a lot of knowledge about events thanks to Sora’s memories, she will try to answer the best of her abilities if a question about a certain event is asked.
→ Weaknesses: Due to her experiences with the Organization and having been treated so horribly by both the Nobodies and by DiZ, Namine’s wall of confidence can be taken down very easily at times. She can also be very oblivious and gullible to a lot of things, such as making friends.
→ First Person Sample: [After fiddling with the communicator for a few minutes, it finally turns on. Namine looks back to the place she had woken up in. Everything that happened to her was…all just a dream? That didn’t sit very well with her to be honest. She wasn’t even called by her name; she was called by something else. And she apparently has a family, the last time she checked, she was born from darkness, not a human being.]
W-What is this place? How…is this even possible? All of that couldn’t possibly…just be a dream…
[She takes in her surroundings once more. This place looks so…normal despite the recent event. All these questions kept going through her mind; even the people where she woke up wouldn’t answer her. How is she supposed to be someone that she doesn’t even remember being? And all of those events that happened to her, none of it was real in this world. She had a really hard time believing any of that.]
I don’t want to let anyone down, but…everything is just so confusing… Can someone tell me what’s going on? Please?
→ Third Person Sample: Looking around the city has been an experience for her. Her family was…nice… She wasn’t going to lie, having people who treat her like their own made her feel, well, wanted. Nevertheless, getting all the attention is going to be something she is going to need to get used to. Still, being alone was a nice feeling to have after having a lot of people that you don’t even know, or remember in their case, ask you question after question. Namine never minded answering questions that she knew the answers to, but this was too much. Everything was not very simple anymore, but what part of her was ever simple to begin with? She was already a complex Nobody, why not a complex normal person as well?
A bed of flowers catches her attention; she’s never had this opportunity to just crouch down and enjoy these colorful plants. Sure, they’ve showed up in her drawings once or twice, but she’s never been able to touch or smell one. If she was still with DiZ, she would have been dragged back to her white room in the abandoned mansion to reconnect Sora’s memories. But then she actually had freedom after that event, not that she used it to indulge herself. Instead, she used it to help Kairi and the others in The World That Never Was. Whether this is a gift or a curse, Namine doesn’t mind having the freedom. She can only hope that there are more things for her to enjoy while wandering around this large city.
Enjoying something so simple in a not-so-simple society seems refreshing, doesn’t it?
